Police Sergeant denies knowing Baukudi during testimony

One of the main suspects in the Kamogelo Baukudi case, Nzima Philemon Adoons, denies ever knowing the 19-year-old pupil Kamogelo Baukudi or his family.
The 42-year-old police sergeant who forms part of SAPS’ Anti-Gang Unit appeared alone in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court today.
However, Adoons told the court that he does not know the victim and is not aware of any ransom money demanded from the family.
He was supposed to appear alongside his co-accused after his bail application was moved to next Thursday for further bail hearing.
Baukudi, who has since been reunited with his family, was found alive in Wepener in the Free State last week after he was abducted while being driven home from his Martie du Plesis special school.
Three males were arrested during the early morning operation at a house in Kanana Location, Wepener, on Friday. The additional two suspects were caught on the road between Kwetla Location and Wepener town with Baukudi in their possession.
The arrests come just days after the alleged kidnappers demanded a R7 million ransom for Baukudi's safe return.
