Nthatisi leads service delivery drive in Ward 19

Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality has taken its service delivery drive directly into communities, with the Ward2Ward Campaign bringing municipal teams and community stakeholders together in Ward 19, Willows, on 21 September 2026.

The campaign, led by Executive Mayor, Gregory Nthatisi, Deputy Mayor, Lulama Titi-Odili and Ward 19 Councillor Qondile Peter, focused on addressing service delivery priorities through practical interventions on the ground.

Ward structures and various municipal teams joined the campaign, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to responding to challenges identified within communities.

The operation brought together officials from Public and Environmental Services (PES), MMM Community Services, MMM Waste Management, CENTLEC, MMM Fire and Rescue, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the MMM Traffic Department.

Rather than focusing solely on planning and discussions, teams were deployed to undertake visible work aimed at improving public spaces and addressing basic service delivery concerns.

Activities included grass cutting, cleaning open spaces, litter picking and clearing stormwater inlets. Teams also inspected areas where water leaks had been reported, with the aim of identifying and addressing problems requiring municipal attention.

The campaign also received support from students at the Central University of Technology (CUT), who participated in the clean-up and beautification efforts around Small Street near the Manheim Ladies Residence.

As part of their contribution, the students painted sections of the street, adding to the broader effort to improve the appearance and condition of public spaces in the area.

The Ward2Ward Campaign forms part of the municipality’s continued efforts to strengthen its presence within communities and ensure that service delivery concerns are addressed where they occur.

The municipality said the initiative reflects its commitment to visible and practical service delivery, with officials working alongside communities and other stakeholders to identify challenges and implement interventions.

The Ward 19 campaign ultimately reinforced the municipality’s message that service delivery should not remain confined to plans, strategies and meetings, but must translate into tangible action that residents can see and experience in their communities.

Through the Ward2Ward approach, Mangaung is seeking to maintain a closer connection between municipal programmes and the everyday service delivery needs of residents.
