New Africa Developments (NAD) has finalised an eight hundred million rand acquisition of the Kalahari Mall in Upington from Hosken Consolidated Investments following unconditional Competition Tribunal clearance.
Situated along the Orange River, the 33 000 square metre retail node attracts around 300 000 shoppers every month with anchors like Woolworths, Checkers, and Game.
Management plans to implement a major capital expenditure programme to modernise infrastructure and optimise tenant layouts.
The transaction expands the developer's national portfolio to over 37 prime properties.
NAD founder and Chief Executive, Japie van Niekerk, noted that the purchase reflects a strategy targeting high-performing retail assets in peripheral municipal markets.
“Isolated communities frequently suffer from limited institutional retail access,” Van Niekerk noted.
