BLOEMFONTEIN - The cold in Bloemfontein this morning could clearly describe the somber mood at the funeral of 25-year-old Constable Boipelo Senoge, one of three police officers whose lifeless bodies were found in the Hennops River on 29 April.

Free State Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae tried to put on a brave face, but the sorrowful emotions and loss of the three young constables broke right through her voice.

“We are here to bid farewell to Senoge, who left too soon.

“She had a warm and welcoming personality, and her presence could be felt wherever she was.

“She was also known as the ‘rich aunt’ because of her personality and warm heart, just the type of police officer we need in our fight against crime and against gender based violence,” Mathae said.

Letsoha-Mathae praised the young constable’s achievements which include completing courses in domestic violence, vulnerable groups, crime prevention and the use of firearm saying that the nation is poorer without Senoge.

Senoge was laid to rest at the South Park cemetery in Bloemfontein.
